Dell rolls out Vostro V131, upgrades Inspiron 13z and 14z

Announced back in February 2011, the Dell Latitude XT3 convertible tablet finally has itself a product page on the company's U.S. and Canadian websites.

The Latitude XT3 features a rotating 13.3-inch, 1366x768 pixel multitouch display, Core i3, i5 or i7 processor, a durable tri-metal design and a spill-resistant keyboard.

The Latitude XT3 is a successor of XT2 12.1-inch convertible (also available as a rugged XT2 XFR) and was initially planned for a July 2011 release. Apart from touchscreen and keyboard (optionally backlit), the new arrival in Latitude's family features a trackpad, while its bi-directional hinge allows to rotate the screen left to right, or right to left.

The housing is finished with magnesium alloy and according to the product page, the design meets defense-grade MIL-STD-810G standard.

The Dell Latitude XT3 is powered by an Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 CPU and an integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU. It comes with a DVD drive (available via XT3 Media Base or E-Modular Bay II), HD webcam, Gigabit Ethernet port, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, optional mobile broadband support (including WiMAX) and optional Bluetooth 3.0. Other connectivity features include 3x USB 2.0 (1x USB/eSATA combo), IEEE 1394, VGA and HDMI. Dell Latitude XT3 also comes with a memory card reader, 34 mm ExpressCard slot, SmartCard Reader, while a fingerprint reader is optional. Battery options include 6- and 9-cell batteries.

The tablet's dimensions are 12.7 x 1.2 x 8.7 in (323 x 30.9 x 221.7 mm) and it weighs 4.46lbs (2.02 kg) with a 6-cell battery.

The picture is still incomplete though - Dell Latitude XT3 pricing and availability details are yet to be announced.

Windows 7-based Lenovo IdeaPad Tablet P1 announced

Along with a pair of Android 3.1-based tablets, Lenovo has unveiled its plans to release the 10.1-inch Lenovo IdeaPad Tablet P1, powered by the 1.5GHz Intel Atom CPU and running the Windows 7 OS.

Despite the fact that this system is not as tablet-tailored as Android Honeycomb, and Windows 8 has already been revealed as a touch-optimized OS, Lenovo apparently believes there still is a market for a Win 7-based tablet. The device is due out in the fourth quarter of 2011.
The IdeaPad Tablet P1 features a 1280 x 800 capacitive touchscreen with multi-touch, which can also be operated via a stylus. There's up to 2GB of DDR2 memory, and either 32GB or 64GB of internal memory (SSD), which is expandable through a micro SD card reader. The tablet comes with Bluetooth, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, 10/100M LAN, 1x USB 2.0 port and an optional 3G modem. There's an integrated front-facing webcam, although unlike the newly-announced Android-based arrivals from Lenovo, the rear camera is missing.

The tablet is equipped with a single 1.5W speaker, as well as a microphone and headphone connectors. The 2-cell battery is capable of delivering up to 6 hours of battery life. The tablet weighs 1.75 lbs (0.79 kg) and its dimensions are 279 x 14.5 x 184 mm (10.9 x 0.57 x 7.24 in). There's no word on pricing at this point.
